A graduate with an LLB Law degree, finalised with a dissertation in Immigration and Refugee Law, Karen Kaur began her career with the Home Office. She worked on complex cases, dealing with family life applications. During her time with the Home Office, Karen assisted the policy teams drawing up rules and regulations surrounding immigration rules and procedures. Karen often led meetings to ensure correct procedures were put in place to ensure compliance as well as accompanying colleagues on enforcement visits concerning various intelligence led operations.

Karen decided to make the transition from case worker to Immigration Analyst with Migrate UK in January 2017. Her expertise in immigration law resulted a lot of media attention. She was awarded the title of ‘Brexit Winner’ as published in the Grazia magazine April 2017. Now the Legal Director of the business, Karen continues to be called upon by the media for her analysis and explanation of policy changes – including interviews with the BBC and the Australian Broadcasting Commission.

With the increasing importance of sponsor licences for companies wishing to employ staff from outside the UK, compliance audits have become a major part of Karen’s work; ensuring sponsor licences which are under the representation of Migrate UK are not under threat of termination.

A keen networker, Karen has been building Migrate UK’s contacts database. Regularly attending events, engaging individuals (especially HR personnel) with her expertise in immigration related issues. Migrate UK regularly conduct seminars and forums that are available to businesses needing advice.

During her spare time, Karen seeks out adventure through travel and being a keen reader, enjoys exploring the works of many a talented author.
